Kwara Deputy Gov, CAN pledges support for 2020 NUJ Carol

The Deputy Governor of Kwara state, Mr. Kayode Alabi has assured journalists in the state of adequate support towards hosting this year’s annual Christmas carol.

Speaking recently when members of the committee paid him a courtesy call in his office, the Deputy Governor, who assured journalists of his support also promised to grace the occasion as the Special Guest of Honour.

Earlier, the Chairman of the committee, Mr. Rowland Olonishuwa, had explained that the carol is organized by all Christian journalists in the state under the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kwara state Council.

He revealed that the committee held the maiden edition of the carol last year with the theme, “We have seen His Star” and took their anchor from Matthew 2:2. He stated that the theme for this year is taken from Psalm 24:8, “Who is this King of Glory?”.

Olonishuwa further revealed that this year’s service will hold at the premises of the Press Center, opposite St. Anthony Secondary School, Offa road on December 11, 2020 at 3pm prompt.

In the same vein, Kwara state Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Most Reverend Olawoore has assured that the Kwara NUJ Christmas Carol Committee can count on him for support towards success of this year’s carol program.

Most Reverend Olàwoore who is also the Bishop of Ilorin Diocese of the Catholic Church said that the committee can count on his support and that of the state CAN.

He sad the assignment of all Christians, whether Cleric or not, is to proclaim the gospel, especially, during the Christmas period saying carols serves as one of the platforms to celebrate and proclaim Christ.

The CAN Chairman however urged members of the committee not to focus on the carol alone, but to also strive for other programs that will project Christ to the world.
