Sequel to the outbreak of the World pandemic Corona Virus, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has suspended the ongoing orientation course for prospective Corp members..
The orientation which began across the country on March 10, was organised for 2020 Batch ” A” Stream 1 corps members.
The NYSC Director, Press and Public Relations Unit, Mrs Adenike Adeyemi, who made the disclosure in a statement made available on Wednesday in Abuja, maintained that,no corps member or official has contracted the virus.
Adeyemi noted that the corps members would be posted to commence their primary assignments. Adding that corps member would be invited back to the orientation camps when the situation improves.
Meanwhile, the South West Director of the scheme, Mr Attah Emmanuel, revealed that it had planned ahead of the emergency closure of all camps across the country and posted corps members for their primary assignment.
“We have planned ahead of this time and we have taken the decision to close all camps in the best interest of the nation and that of our corps members as well as staff members.
“I can confirm to you that all our corps members have been posted to their respective places of primary assignment and we have also rushed through some of the orientation programmes,” he said.
